Deanna Del Ciello
Deanna is a documentary filmmaker and national award-winning videographer, producer, and editor based in Washington, D.C. Her work has been featured on PBS NewsHour and in HuffPost Education, as well as on A&E. She holds a graduate certificate in documentary filmmaking from the Institute of Documentary Filmmaking at The George Washington University and a B.A. in journalism and French with concentrations in online media and public policy from Stony Brook University.

Anna is a D.C. native living in Brooklyn, New York. She holds a B.A. in film studies and French from Tulane University and a graduate certificate in documentary filmmaking from George Washington University. She has worked as executive assistant at Guggenheim Productions, Inc. in Washington, D.C., a production company that produces historical documentaries.

Erik Hollis is a Ph.D. student in African American Studies and Critical Theory at Northwestern University. Prior to attending Northwestern, they received an MA in American Studies and a graduate certificate in documentary filmmaking from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Erik also holds a BA, magna cum laude, from The University of Arizona in Film & Television Studies and Gender & Women’s Studies, with a designated emphasis in Sexualities and Queer Studies. They are the reason this film exists, as the idea of focusing on girls in chess was all theirs. Erik resides in Chicago, Illinois.

Linda Cotton is an Instructional Multimedia Specialist in the School of Medicine and Health Sciences at George Washington University in Washington DC where she produces video, photos, graphics, animations and online interactive learning modules for faculty. Before that she was a photographer, videographer and website manager in the Public Affairs Section of the US Embassy in Beijing, China.

Josh Gates is from Colorado Springs, Colorado and is currently living in Bethesda Maryland. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. In 2017, he graduated from the Institute for Documentary Filmmaking at the George Washington University. Josh has spent his professional life working for nonprofits that increase opportunities for early childhood education, career skills development and civic engagement.

Saznin is a native of Alexandria, Virginia who served as a director of photography and editor on the Queens in Training crew. She's currently a grad student at Johns Hopkins and is hoping to build a career at the intersection of film and public health.

Daniel M. Mills is a graduate of the Indiana University School of Journalism and the I.U. Law School. He holds a certificate in documentary filmmaking from the George Washington University Documentary Film Institute. He is a board member of the Amara Legal Center. He has been a reporter, a trial lawyer, and is a seeker of truth, equity and justice. He tells compelling stories through video and photography. His 2016 film, Breaking Free - A Survivor's Journey, was recently screened at the first D.C. Black Film Festival.
